With final sale (i.e., non-returnable) purchases, it’s easy to get suckered into a “great deal”—which in the end may bring you no value at all. So, next time you find yourself in the same situation, here’s the game-winning strategy to stick to.
No matter how beautiful or alluring, don’t buy anything
…that doesn’t fit now (or, for online purchases, might not fit)*
…that might be impractical
…that might be ineffective (i.e., is untested/unproven)
…for online purchases, that you might not end up liking in person
UNLESS you’re willing to write that spend off if, in the worst case scenario, it doesn’t work out at all.
Here are some examples of what normally not to buy:
- Those stunning high heels… that you might not actually be able to walk in
- That gorgeous shirt/pant/dress/etc. that would fit, if you could just drop to your target weight
*Unless you’re sure you can tailor it at a cost you’re also willing to pay
